WIWW {What I wore Wednesday}

This is my first time linking up to What I Wore Wednesday, so I only took 2 picks this week :)

This was Monday :) I was feeling super gross so I just threw my hair into a sock bun. Can I just say that the sock bun was made for moms with lots to do but still want to look cute? Yeah, they are genius.

All my clothes are either from Goodwill or another kind of thrift store. I like to be different and not spend a lot of money. Soooo, I can't really tell you where my clothes are from :) Ah well, I am sure you get the idea without needing the brand :)

I can tell you, however, that the book clutch I sported with this outfit was Hint of Vintage :)

This was Wednesday. I can't say I would have worn these sandals if my husband wasn't pressuring me to hurry up so he could take the picture and leave for school, but hey, they are cute any way I guess.

So those are my two days worth of what I wore :) Maybe I will get better at taking {aka, not so lazy and actually get ready so that I can take} pictures for next week.

Finished chair upholstery

If you think this blog will have any sort of structure, I hate to disappoint :) I have tried that before, and well...I stink at it. So really it is just a compilation of all my crafts, thoughts, and of course, my Hint of Vintage book clutches and shop info.

I recently received this chair from a friend who decided he did not need it, and since I am a garbage collector (I have found all sorts of treasures on the side of the road!), and since I just recently reupholstered a chair in my living room, he figured I would be the one to want it. Naturally :)

This is the state I got it in. He had already painted the bottom to match his office it was going to go in, and he had already finished the structure of it all and gave me the padding he had fit to it. So basically? All the hard part was done for me :)

Next, I wanted to find a fabric that was bright, but still went along with the black bottom. I found this fabric on sale at Walmart and I loved the bright beachie quality to it.

Since I wanted it to look less like a homemade project, I added some ribbing to it. I just bought some 9/32" cable cord at my local Hancocks (I got the bag so that I could have a lot because I will prob use it again). Then I just cut the fabric in strips to wrap around the cord, and sewed right along the cord.

I started with fabric on the back, and and then moved to covering the front. The ribbing came next which I used to outline the side of the chair as pictured below. Then I may or may not have hot glued a piece of fabric to each side of the chair to cover up the rough edges. (Hey, I never said I was a master upholster!)

And here is the finished chair :) I am pretty psyched about it! Next, I have a table that I need to finish to go with it. I will post pics on that too.

I am going to finish this chair up by adding some water-proof and weather-proof sealant on the bottom half where it is black to protect it, and then some water-proofing on the fabric. I have some new tricks up my sleeve for my book clutches, and will need an area outside to work on it so now I will have a cute chair, and hopefully next, a cute table to work on :)

Sister's Ipad Cover

Just finished my sister's gift! I was so excited to find this vintage book that had her name right across the front! I made it into an ipad cover for her birthday, and as far as I can tell, she really loved it :)

{Outside cover}

{Inside, holds the ipad}

I will have similar ipad covers, kindle covers and book clutches for sale this Saturday at Craft Lake City, it you want one of your own :) I will be sharing a booth with the amazingly talented Sam Matsukawa who makes the most amazing handcrafted jewelry, and her prices are crazy reasonable :)

A BIG Thanks!!!

I was recently put into someone's treasury that they made of Oklahoma artists and since then I have sold the earrings that I had not been able to sell! I received so many compliments when I would wear my pair of the same earrings, but I guess they just needed to be on a treasury so people could see them :)

So as a thanks, I wanted to make
a shout out for http://www.etsy.com/shop/marcykk where she has the CUTEST little headbands for little girls and other cute "frilly" things, so if you have a little girl or are looking for a great shower gift then check out her shop!

Thanks again Marcykk!

I have finally finished "my office" and I am pretty excited about how it turned out. Now everything is within arms reach and so I can be extra lazy while my creative juices flow. For some reason, it just makes creating jewelry more fun when it is all organized. Now to just organize the rest of my life....eventually.

Spark of Creativity

I haven't posted anything for a while, or really even worked on my site for a while. I lost my spark of creativity when a mean person harassed me on Etsy. However, the good part of this story is that I got it back!! I recently went strolling with a friend and we stopped by some cute boutiques. Walking through them renewed my creativity and I couldnt wait to get home and start on a new project! The result? Five new neckaces! I just added them onto Etsy, including some Sooner necklaces for those fancy fanatics!

The other fun thing is that one of the boutiques is named Rhinestones and Rubies, and my name is Ruby! That is not the exciting part though. I dropped off my business card with the hopes that I might be able to sell some of my necklaces there. I think it would be a lot of fun, and then more of those Sooner girls would be able to see the upside down longhorn necklaces.

Dont forget to check out my new etsy additions at www.hintofvintage.etsy.com!
